Welcome to our Ear ID Hear-in-Noise Hearing Check

Trouble hearing in a noisy environment is usually the first sign of a hearing issue. The Ear ID Hear-in-Noise online hearing check assesses how you hear in a noisy background. This is not a substitute for a hearing test by an audiologist or ENT specialist, and your results should not be considered as medical advice. This test is not valid for people under the age of 15 years.

Here are four tips for considering
your OTC hearing aid option:

Who are OTC hearing aids designed for?

According to the FDA, this new category of Over-The-Counter (OTC) hearing aids… enable consumers with perceived mild to moderate hearing impairment to purchase hearing aids directly from retail stores or online retailers without the need for a medical exam, prescription, or a fitting adjustment by an audiologist.

What type of OTC hearing aids are available ?

Consumers now have several different style options for OTC hearing aids. Traditional types most associated with hearing aids are available including Receiver-in-Canal (RIC) and In-The-Ear (ITE). However, a new type of OTC hearing aid is now available that look like traditional earbuds (HP Hearing PRO) and perform more like high-end earbuds (high end sound fidelity and phone calls) with FDA-cleared hearing enhancement capabilities.

Self-Fitting or non Self-Fitting?

The FDA are defining a “self-fitting” hearing aid as one that doesn’t need to be tuned and fitted by an audiologist. You can do the hearing test at home and your OTC hearing aid will automatically adjust to your hearing levels. HP Hearing PRO was the first product cleared through the FDA’s 510(k) process for both 874.3325 self-fitting and the 800.30 OTC hearing aid classifications under a new product classification code “QUH”.

Consider your options carefully.

If you have perceived mild to moderate hearing loss you now have real options to address your hearing health that don’t require a visit to a hearing professional. We encourage you to research the products available and we trust you will include HP Hearing Pro in your consideration. Enjoy your hearing health journey
